Duties and Responsibilities: Industrial hygienists’ jobs are to keep industrial and manufacturing plants free of health hazards and other safety hazards. They check air and air quality, measure noise levels, and at times measure radiation levels. They also list present and potential threats in the workplace. Overall, an industrial hygienist’s job is to keep a safe work area for other workers. Salary: $77,857 Education: Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, although some companies require a master’s degree. Reflection: I wouldn’t want to be an industrial hygienist because I’d be putting myself in the same risk as the workers.
